Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ pre-booking open in India; sale might debut on March 16

Samsung lifted the wraps off the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked 2018 event last night at the MWC 2018 show floor in Barcelona. The device is all set to be released in select markets on March 16 and go on pre-order starting from today itself. While there is no word on the Indian release date of these devices, it looks like the same will happen in March.

Now, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ pre-bookings are open in India via the official Samsung India website. This leaves us a hint that these smartphones could be released in India on March 16 just like a few other markets. Interested buyers can prebook the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ by paying Rs. 2,000 as an advance. The pre-booking coupon will be sent via SMS or email and this can be used at the time of making the final payment.

Samsung India is yet to reveal the exact price of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ in India. It is believed that these smartphones might cost the same as their predecessors. These flagship phones were unveiled in four color options but the Indian market might get three of them such as coral blue, lilac purple and midnight black. Also, from the previous flagship devices from Samsung, it is clear that the Indian Indian market will get the Exynos 9810 SoC variant of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ and not the Snapdragon 845 SoC variant.

The prebooking listing on the Samsung India website notes that those who prebook these smartphones and fail to make the final payment within the specified due date will get a refund of Rs. 2,000 in seven working days.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ come with many highlights. Some of the notable ones are on the camera front. These smartphones have a variable aperture that can range from a narrower f/2.4 aperture to a wider f/1.5 aperture based on the lighting conditions. Also, there is an AR Emoji feature that is similar to Animoji on iPhone X.

When it comes to the US availability, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will go on pre-orders starting from March 2 and will be priced at $720 (approx. Rs. 47,000) and $840 (approx. Rs. 55,000) respectively.
