Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Spotted in the Wild Ahead of Launch: Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Expected to Tag Along
Samsung’s rumoured wider foldable, believed to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, has reportedly surfaced in public before any official announcement. A Samsung employee was seen using the unreleased device at a restaurant in South Korea, offering an early look despite heavy attempts to conceal it.
For months, leaks have suggested Samsung is changing its foldable line-up, with a wider model planned. Reports now claim the phone once called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will instead launch as the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the previous main Fold could arrive as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Leak Shows Wider Design
Well-known tipster Ice Universe posted photos on X that allegedly show this wider Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 in use. The images, reportedly captured from a distance using 20x zoom, were shared by Android Authority and make it hard to see finer design details clearly.
One shared caption stated: “A Korean netizen recently spotted a Samsung employee dining at a restaurant while using what appears to be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide(It has now been renamed the Galaxy Z Fold8.)The device was covered by Samsung's internal anti-leak protective case, a special… pic.twitter.com/jdF9Tt3lcH— Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) May 31, 2026”
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8: Case, Camera Layout, Frame
The spotted Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is wrapped in a thick internal protective case that Samsung often relies on for field testing. These cases cover key styling points, such as camera housing and body shape, yet parts of the frame and inner display edges still remain visible to observers.
Even with that bulky cover, the device looks wider than earlier Galaxy Z Fold models when unfolded. This apparent change in aspect ratio matches earlier leaks that hinted at a broader front screen and inner panel. The photos also suggest a dual rear camera arrangement on the prototype’s back.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra: What to Expect
Leaks indicate the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 may ship with dual rear cameras and a 4,800mAh battery. In contrast, the rumoured Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to add a third rear camera, a bigger 5,000mAh battery and faster wired charging compared with the standard model.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra are also expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Samsung is expected to present the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at a Galaxy Unpacked event rumoured for July 22.
