Samsung seems to be giving its users even more personalized options for the Always-on Display. According to Android Police, users will now be able to put GIFs on the display which will show when the phone is asleep. Currently, the Always-On Display shows time, notifications and battery level whenever the phone is locked. Users are allowed to customize the colors, clock style, and other aspects according to their liking.

Samsung also lets users choose from pre-loaded images or take their own photo to appear alongside the indicators. GIFs will offer even greater potential for creativity. With the latest update, the company will add the option to apply GIFs on the AOD.
We know you must be thinking how much battery this feature's gonna eat. Well, the report suggests that the GIFs will not run in an endless loop, it will only play once. But a double tap on the screen will trigger another loop.

To get this feature on your Samsung device, make sure you are running the updated Always-On Display which is 3.2.26.4. The GIFs work on the Galaxy S8 / S8+, Note 8, and will soon be available for S9 and S9+.

Besides, the company is also said to be working on the next iteration of the Gear smartwatch. The device is said to come with the model number SM-R800. The previous iteration - the Gear S3 was launched with the model number SM-R600, which indicates that the SM-R800 will be the next major addition to the Tizen-powered series of smartwatches.

The Gear S4 will feature improved internal hardware and will focus more on health and fitness tracking features powered by company's S Health service, including enhanced sleep monitoring, according to the report. Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil the Gear S4 later in 2018, but no specific time has been announced. With the gear Sport and Gear S3 seeing the light of day in last two editions of IFA, we might see the Gear S4 at this year's iteration of IFA.
