Samsung reportedly working on a massive 400 MP camera sensor
Samsung is reportedly working on four new high-end sensors: the 50 MP GN6, 200 MP HP7, an unknown 320 MP sensor, and the 440 MP HU1 sensor.
However, tech leakster Revegnus claims these sensors are unlikely to be used in Galaxy S smartphones and may be designated for other manufacturers or industries.

Which devices will use Samsung's new camera sensors?
The most interesting sensor of the bunch is the 50 MP GN6. It will be a one-inch snapper with 1.6μm pixels and is expected to compete with Sony's popular IMX989 sensor. Due to its cost, Samsung may adopt this sensor for other manufacturers' devices rather than using it in their own products.
On the other hand, the purpose of the 440 MP HU1 sensor may not be for smartphones at all. It could find more utility in automotive or industrial sectors where higher resolution imaging is required.
Additionally, the development of a potential Galaxy S series-compatible camera with a resolution of up to 320 megapixels is underway. However, it may not be available until the Galaxy S26 Ultra at the earliest.
Will Samsung incorporate the 200 MP HP7 sensor on its smartphones?
Initially intended for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the 200MP HP7 sensor offers slightly larger pixels and improved image quality compared to its predecessor in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. But due to manufacturing costs, Samsung may not consider this sensor for their own smartphones.
While Samsung is working on these impressive high-end sensors, it seems that most of them will not be used in their own flagship smartphones. Instead, they are likely to be adopted by other manufacturers or find applications in industries such as automotive and industrial sectors.
