Samsung Rolls Out One UI 8 With Android 16 for Galaxy A55 and A35 Users in India

Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy A series is getting a big software refresh. The One UI 8 update, built on top of Android 16, has started rolling out to the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35, bringing a cleaner interface, better AI integration, and a few tools that make the phones feel smarter overall.

The update is now live in India, and it’s moving beyond the beta phase to reach regular users. For anyone using these devices, the rollout should appear automatically over the next few days. You can also check manually by heading to Settings → Software Update → Download and Install.

The update size isn’t light — around 1.9GB for the Galaxy A55 and roughly 2.4GB for the Galaxy A35 — so it’s best to install it over Wi-Fi and ensure you’ve got enough storage and battery before starting.

What’s New With One UI 8

With this version, Samsung isn’t changing everything at once but polishing what’s already working. The new interface feels cleaner, and animations are smoother. But the biggest additions are tucked into the Galaxy AI suite.

One of the headline features is Now Brief, an AI-powered personal assistant that adapts to your routine. It can summarize notifications, offer contextual suggestions, and help track daily tasks — sort of like a more proactive version of Google Assistant but baked into Samsung’s ecosystem.

There’s also Audio Eraser, which uses AI to reduce unwanted background noise in videos. It’s designed for content creators or anyone who records on the go and doesn’t want to deal with external editing tools.

Android 16 Under the Hood

Since One UI 8 is built on Android 16, users can also expect the subtle benefits that come with the newer OS — better privacy controls, improved battery management, and more flexible app permissions. The experience overall should feel more refined, even if it’s not a radical redesign.

Part of a Wider Rollout

Samsung has been gradually pushing One UI 8 across its portfolio, and the Galaxy A55 and A35 are among the first mid-range models to get it. The flagship Galaxy S22 series received the same update recently, marking what’s likely the final major OS upgrade for that lineup.

For the A-series, though, this update extends the phones’ lifecycle — both models are part of Samsung’s long-term support plan, which promises up to four years of Android upgrades and five years of security patches.
