Samsung suddenly stops the rollout of Android Oreo update for Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices

Samsung has temporarily stopped the update following a limited number of cases where Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices have rebooted unexpectedly with the Android 8.0 Oreo.

Samsung just started rolling out the much-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for its 2017 flagships the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+. The update was first rolled out to beta members and later was rolled out to other devices or users a few days back. However, in a rather surprising development, Samsung has reportedly stopped the rollout of Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo update.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Android Oreo update stopped suddenly

According to SamMobile, who have also confirmed the news after conducting an extensive research has stated that Samsung has indeed pulled out Oreo for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ smartphones.

Further, the G950/G955-FXXU1CRAP Android 8.0 firmware files for the two handsets that were present before seem to be no longer available for download on Samsung's servers.

As of now, no official statements have been issued as to why the rollout was stopped and nothing is clear. Nonetheless, when Samsung does provide a comment on the matter we will update you with the same.

UPDATE: Samsung has now stated, "Following a limited number of cases where Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices have rebooted unexpectedly with the Android 8.0 Oreo, we have temporarily stopped the rollout of the update. We are investigating the issue internally to ensure that the impact to the affected devices is minimized and the rollout of the update can resume as quickly as possible."

While this is a bad news for the device owners as they were looking forward to the update but those who have already updated their devices to Android 8.0 Oreo won't be impacted much. They can basically still use Oreo in a normal fashion as nothing changes for them.

Meanwhile, the publication has also noted that the reason for pull out could be that Samsung is working on a new firmware version for the Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 release. If that is true then hopefully it will be rolled out soon. Samsung users have been waiting for it for a long time.

Just to recall, Samsung had started the Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo release a couple of days ago in markets like Turkey, Norway, the UAE, India, Belgium, Germany, France, Poland amongst others. The company was scheduled to roll out the update in the Netherlands next week.
