The partnership between Samsung and BMW, is expected to be an example of how companies from different verticals collaborate for something better. In Future, we can expect to other automobile companies and Electronics companies to team up for something exciting.
According to industry sources and Samsung Group, the company has teamed up with BMW and Panasonic to develop "intelligent assistants" for smart cars. The intelligent assistant can recognize the voice of the driver and execute the driver's voice commands. This is a move to integrate the IoT or the Internet of Things model to cars. This is possible with inputs from global IT giants who will help make smart cars.
Another company who is part fo the deal is Nuance Communications. Nuance communications is the company that is behind Siri that powers Apple's iPhone.

Both BMW and Samsung are leaders in their fields. While BMW is a leader in Automobile industry, Samsung is a leader in the IT and Electronics. Samsung also supplies batteries to BMW's electric vehicle models. The companies have already cemented ties and any partnership for a Smart Car should not be a problem.
Besides, it is heard that Samsung will provide automotive semiconductors for Audi's next-generation self-driving cars. Samsung is entering the automobile space though the focus largely remains on electronics and IoT.
