Samsung Unveils 50MP ISOCELL GNK Camera Sensor With Enhanced Dynamic Range
Samsung has introduced its latest camera sensor, the 50MP ISOCELL GNK, which comes with impressive performance improvements and advanced smart technologies. This new sensor serves as the successor to the 50MP ISOCELL GN1 that was initially announced in May 2020.
While the two sensors share the same specifications, the GNK brings substantial enhancements in terms of dynamic range, thanks to the introduction of Dual Pixel Pro and advanced HDR technology.

Key Features of the Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GNK Sensor
The Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GNK sensor retains the 1/1.3-inch size of its predecessor, providing a spacious canvas for capturing high-quality images. Additionally, it features 1.2µm pixels, maintaining the same pixel size as the GN1 sensor.
Enhanced Dynamic Range and Color Depth
One of the standout features of the GNK sensor is its ability to capture images with a significantly improved dynamic range of up to 102dB. This boost is primarily attributed to enhancements in HDR performance. The sensor employs single-frame-based Smart-ISO Pro, resulting in images with a color depth of up to 14-bit, leading to more vibrant and dynamic colors in photos.
Advanced ISO Modes for Reduced Motion Artifacts
The GNK sensor leverages three different ISO modes to minimize motion artifacts in captured images. This innovation ensures that moving objects can be quickly focused on and results in sharp, clear photos, thanks to the Dual Pixel Pro autofocus technology.
Video Recording Capabilities
In the realm of video recording, the Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GNK sensor is no slouch. It supports 8K video recording at 30fps while maintaining a generous field of view. Moreover, the sensor provides the flexibility of shooting HDR videos and Full HD (FHD) footage at impressive frame rates of up to 240fps. This versatile video capability is sure to enhance the overall multimedia experience.
Which Phones Will Incorporate the Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GNK Sensor?
As of now, Samsung has not officially disclosed which smartphones will debut with the new 50MP ISOCELL GNK sensor. However, given the impending release of Samsung's Galaxy S24 series early next year, it is reasonable to speculate that these devices could be among the first to feature this innovative technology.
