Samsung is starting a One UI 8.5 beta programme in the United States for Galaxy S25 series users, bringing changes aimed at simpler daily use, smoother device connections, and stronger protection for personal data across phones, tablets, PCs, and TVs.

The One UI 8.5 beta will be available from December 8 through the Samsung Members app for Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra owners in the U.S., giving early testers access to new content tools, sharing options, and security features.

One UI 8.5 Beta Content Creation Upgrades

For content creation, One UI 8.5 upgrades Photo Assist so users can keep generating or editing images without saving every step, while an edit history remains visible for review, and Quick Share now detects people in photos and suggests relevant contacts for fast sharing.

One UI 8.5 Beta Device Connectivity Features

On the connectivity side, Audio Broadcast adds Auracast support so Galaxy S25 series phones can send audio to nearby LE Audio devices, which is useful during group listening situations, and Storage Share lets users browse files from other Galaxy devices directly inside the My Files app.

Storage Share also supports remote access to files stored on a smartphone, and works across Galaxy phones and tablets, Galaxy Book laptops, and select Samsung TVs, helping users reach documents, photos, and media across devices without manually copying content between each screen.

One UI 8.5 Beta Security and System Requirements

Security additions in One UI 8.5 include Theft Protection to safeguard devices and data if a phone goes missing, a Failed Authentication Lock that activates after repeated unlock failures, and an Expanded Identity Check for more sensitive system changes and higher risk actions.

The beta has specific technical requirements for each feature, shown below for clarity and planning by interested users.

FeatureRequirements
Photo Assist Internet connection and Samsung Account
Quick Share One UI 2.1 or higher with Android Q or later
Audio Broadcast Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, or Galaxy S25 Ultra only
Storage Share Same Samsung Account, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth; Galaxy phones/tablets with One UI 7+ and kernel 5.15+; Galaxy Book2+ (Intel) or Galaxy Book4+ (Arm); Samsung TVs U8000+ from 2025 onwards

With the One UI 8.5 beta focused on content tools, cross-device access, and layered security checks, Galaxy S25 series users in the U.S. gain an early look at how Samsung plans to streamline sharing, editing, and protection across the broader Galaxy ecosystem.
