Apple is rumored to have been working on the successor of the iPhone SE for quite a while now. While the company itself has not made any such claims, several reliable sources claim that the iPhone SE 2 (if that is what it is called) is in the making.

Second-generation iPhone SE could feature a glass body says report

That being said, the second generation iPhone SE wouldn't be a part of Apple's three-model lineup that is to be unveiled in September. Going by existing reports, the Cupertino-based tech giant will launch the device in the first quarter of this year. When it comes to the phone's specifications, a new report from the publication tekz24.com indicates that the iPhone SE 2 will carry one key feature from the iPhone X.

Well, if you are thinking about the Face ID, you are wrong. We are talking about the glass body. Unlike the original iPhone SE, which features a metal body, the iPhone SE 2 will have a glass body similar to that of the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

The inclusion of glass body will also enable the handset with some other features, the support for wireless charging being the most significant one. As some you may know, wireless charging is only supported on a device that has a glass body.

In case, you are wondering about the Face ID, there are many technical obstacles, which makes it difficult for the feature to be included in the iPhone SE 2. Firstly, the device has a small form factor that is said to be major roadblock in this attempt.

So chances are the new iPhone SE will have the same design, but instead of a metal chassis, it will feature a glass body. If this report is to believed, it also means the device will comes with the physical home button as well as the built-in Touch ID.

Coming to the iPhones that will be launched in the fall 2018, they are speculated to ditch the Touch ID in favor of the Face ID. Rumors have it, Apple is prepping a cheaper version of the iPhone X, featuring the Face ID and an LCD display of 6.1 inches.
