Sony releases a new video teaser ahead of the MWC 2018: Leaves us with more questions than answers

Mobile World Congress 2018 is fast approaching and many smartphone brands have now started to send out teasers for possible launches that will happen during the event. While companies are trying to create the hype for their brand and their products, Sony, the popular Japanese consumer electronics company has just released a rather unusual and mysterious teaser for its Feb 26 launch event.

The company via its official Sony Xperia Twitter handle has released the teaser and we can see some form of lines or more so ripples moving downwards towards a hand that is underneath. While the message seems to be cryptic, we are guessing that the company might be hinting towards a new design that new smartphone will bring.

So if it is true then the company will most likely be doing away with its usual box design which we are not so much fan of. Well, the smartphone trend and the design game has gone up in the recent years. As such, we were hoping that Sony would come up with a new design for its smartphones. It would really be refreshing for the consumers.

Meanwhile, speculations have also suggested that Sony might be adopting flexible displays or some form of curved design with the upcoming products. Most modern smartphones today feature such designs. However, there is also another possibility that the teaser could be pointing at. The ripples could represent sound ripples meaning Sony's upcoming smartphone could feature some high-tech audio capability. But again, the hand that is shown in the teaser basically suggests that the device will likely come with some form of design change.

The teaser does not reveal anything in specific apart from these. As for the rumors and leaks they have stated that the next Xperia flagship devices will be Xperia XZ2 and the Xperia XZ Pro. But just a few days back it was reported that Sony was planning to change the complete design of the upcoming Xperia XZ2 or Xperia XZ2 Pro smartphones. Looking at all the developments we can just say that today's teaser fits right in.

Expected Features and Specs

Sony flagships are expected to feature Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 845 chipset based on the 10nm FinFet process. The 2018 Xperia flagship will likely carry 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 18MP + 12MP dual-cam setup at the back and a 13MP rear camera. The smartphone is also tipped to feature a 3420mAh battery and IP68 certification for water and dust resistant.
