Android 10 OS is finally here and is also available for a bunch of high-end devices like the Pixels and OnePlus smartphones. Now, Sony has released the list of smartphones that will be updated to Android 10, starting from December 2019.

Sony Releases Roadmap Of Android 10 Update For Xperia Smartphones

Most of the Sony smartphones that currently run on Android 9 Pie are eligible for the Android 10 update. Sony uses a slightly forked version of the stock Android called the Xperia UI. Unlike MIUI or EMUI, the Xperia UI comes with minimal third-party apps.

List Of Sony Smartphones Elibigle For Android 10 Update

  • Sony Xperia 1
  • Sony Xperia 5
  • Sony Xperia 10
  • Sony Xperia 10 Plus
  • Sony Xperia XZ2
  • Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact
  • Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium
  • Sony Xperia XZ3

The Sony Xperia 1 and the Xperia 5 will be the first set of devices to taste the latest iteration of Android, starting from December 2019. And the remaining smartphones will get the update in early 2020.

What To Expect From Android 10 Update?

Just like a Pixel or OnePlus smartphone, Android 10 updates for a Sony smartphone should introduce a new iPhone-like gesture-based navigation system. Plus, the OS now offers better privacy and control over the use of services like location, call details, and background internet access.

The company might also introduce a new icon set to match with the new UI. The camera system is also expected to receive a new user interface. Though there wouldn't be much of a difference in performance, Android 10 OS should stabilize the overall functionality and should also help to reduce the app launch time.

Should You Upgrade Your Xperia?

Software updates are very critical parameters, especially on a phone or a computer that contains sensitive and personal data. We always recommend installing the latest available software on any electronics to get smooth user experience.

Installing the software update on day one is also not a great move, as more of the major releases will have bugs and it is always advised to wait for a few more days before installing a major software update.
