Sony started rolling out Android Oreo update for its Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus smartphones last week. Now, three other smartphones from the Xperia XA1 series are receiving the Oreo update. The Xperia XA1, XA1 Plus, XA1 Ultra are being updated with the Oreo. The update comes with the build 48.1.A.0.116.

Apart from Android Oreo, the update bring along the Android security patch for February. Additionally, the update includes a Reminders feature that consists of "useful prompts" for unfinished tasks such as draft emails and messages. While the Xperia Actions was already present on the aforementioned Sony phones, now it will gain new gaming and computing functionality.

Since it includes the latest version of Android, the update weighs in at around 90MB depending on the model. So users are recommended to make sure that their device has enough charge and space. Also, it is better to use the Wi-Fi, or else additional data charges may apply.

As the software updates are usually rolled out in phases, Sony Xperia XA1 series users should check in with their local operators or watch for the notification tab in their smartphones. If users have not received the notification then they can always check for the update manually by going to Settings>About Phone>Software updates.

With the arrival of Android Oreo, the Sony Xperia XA1, XA1 Plus, and XA1 Ultra smartphones will get features like Picture-in-Picture mode, Notification Dots, Android Instant Apps, Notification channel, and more.

Picture-in-Picture mode allows users to simultaneously use other apps while watching videos on YouTube or Netflix.

Always-on display along with Auto-fill are included in Oreo update. Auto-fill lets users login into apps more quickly and easily. Besides this, users can find many other options available for any text selection made on Android Oreo.
