Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ Premium users can now share 3D images directly on Facebook
Sony India has now rolled out a new update for the 3D creator app currently available on its premium flagship smartphones, Xperia XZ1 and XZ Premium.
In its endeavor to further expand the creative possibilities, Sony India has now rolled out a new update for the 3D creator app currently available on its premium flagship smartphones, Xperia XZ1 and XZ Premium. With this new update, the Xperia XZ1 and XZ Premium users will be able to upload their 3D scans directly to their Facebook timelines from 3D Creator app and be the first of among friends to have a 3D picture on social media.
This new update allows 3D Creator users to share their 3D scans directly with their Facebook friends using Facebook's interactive 3D post format, so anyone who sees the post will be able to rotate, spin, pinch and zoom in directly from the Facebook News Feed - opening up a whole new world of possibilities for 3D sharing.
"3D creation is no longer just for professionals - 3D Creator by Sony has been made accessible to everyone and the app enables 3D scanning in a matter of seconds and sharing the result in an instant. For existing XZ1, and XZ Premium users who have 3D Creator, the application can be updated through Google Play," the company has said it its media release.
Sony's move comes just after the social media giant announced that it has introduced 3D posts, which let people see and interact with a digital object from all sides in Facebook News Feed. "We're rolling out support for the industry-standard glTF 2.0 file format for Facebook 3D posts. This means artists and creators can easily share even richer, higher-quality 3D content on Facebook from an even greater variety of sources," Facebook said in its blog post earlier.
"In the future, we envision a seamless digital world where people can share immersive experiences and objects like these across VR, AR, and Facebook News Feed. To get there, we'll work on supporting even higher quality 3D models, enabling interactive animations and bringing 3D content into the real world using AR. This is only the beginning, and we look forward to seeing the ecosystem of 3D content grow on Facebook as people, developers and artists contribute their creativity," the company stated.
In any case, if you own either Xperia XZ1 and XZ Premium smartphones you can now use the 3D Creator exclusive app to capture the world in 3D straight from the smartphone and have some fun by turning people and objects into high-resolution 3D avatars.
