Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro could be launched with 4K OLED display

The smartphone seems to have passed through FCC with the ID PY7-00718V.

Sony was rumored to unveil three Xperia XZ2 models at this year's MWC. The rumors didn't pan out, and the company took the wraps off only the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact. Before the commencement of MWC 2018, another Xperia XZ2 model (Xperia XZ2 Pro) was appearing in leaks quite often. While the leaks stopped after MWC, a new development suggests the Xperia XZ2 Pro is down the pipe.

Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro could be launched with 4K OLED display

Three Sony phones have received FCC certification with the IDs: PY7-21831A, PY7-24118Q, and PY7-00718V. The PY7-21831A and PY7-24118Q are associated with the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact. So presumably the Xperia XZ2 Pro has the model number PY7-00718V. The FCC approval also means that the smartphones will be released soon.

Additionally, another report has hinted that the Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro is real and it could be launched later. Of course, we are just making speculations at the moment with no official confirmation yet. However, it is very likely for the Japanese manufacturer to launch another flagship smartphone to take on its rivals.

If previous reports are to be believed, the Xperia XZ2 Pro will be a premium flagship, sporting a 4K OLED display for the first time on a smartphone. In line with the current trend, the display will feature an aspect ratio of 18:9.

As far as other specifications are concerned, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro is said to be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 845 processor. The smartphone could pack 6GB of RAM and at least 64GB of default storage. On the optics front, the Xperia XZ2 Pro is likely to feature a rear dual camera setup with two 12MP image sensors. Other than that, it is also rumored to come with wireless charging support.

More details are expected to emerge in the following days and we will provide you with the updates as the story develops.
