Tecno Camon 30S with MediaTek Helio G100 SoC, Curved 120Hz OLED Display, Sony IMX896 Camera Launched

Tecno introduced the Camon 30 and 30 Pro earlier this year. The Pro model stood out with its 5G capability, powered by the Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chip. In contrast, the standard version only supported 4G, utilising the Helio G99 Ultimate SoC. Later, Tecno launched the Camon 30S Pro, a 4G variant of the Pro model featuring the Helio G100 chip.

Now, the Tecno Camon 30S has also been added to the mix with similarities to the 30S Pro, being a 4G device equipped with the G100 chip. It offers configurations of 6/128GB, 8/128GB, and 8/256GB. Additionally, virtual RAM can double the RAM capacity for enhanced performance.

Display and Design Features

The S Pro brought notable changes like a curved display and an IP rating. The Camon 30S follows this trend with a curved 6.78-inch FHD+ OLED screen supporting a refresh rate of 120Hz. This display can achieve up to 1,300 nits in high brightness mode and employs 2,160Hz PWM dimming for better visuals.

The panel is a 10-bit type covering the full DCI-P3 colour space spectrum. For durability, it comes with Gorilla Glass protection; however, the specific version remains unspecified. The phone is rated IP53 for dust and water resistance, allowing touchscreen functionality even with wet fingers.

Camera Specifications

On the rear, there's a 50MP camera featuring a Sony IMX896 sensor measuring at 1/1.56 inches along with OIS support. Accompanying it is a 2MP depth sensor and dual-LED flash for improved photography in various conditions. The front-facing camera has a dual-LED flash as well but uses a smaller 13MP sensor compared to the 30S Pro's higher resolution.

Audio and Battery Details

For audio enthusiasts, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos are included in this model. However, unlike its predecessor, it lacks a traditional headphone jack which might be disappointing for some users.

The battery capacity remains at 5,000mAh but now supports only up to 33W charging speed-a reduction from previous models' faster charging capabilities (the original Camon 30 supported up to 70W).

Colour Variants and Availability

A unique feature of this phone is its colour-changing ability under sunlight exposure, particularly noticeable in its Blue variant shifting from light purple to dark blue hues. Other available colours include Nebula Violet (appearing more purple in low light), Celestial Black, and Dawn Gold. The Tecno Camon 30S price in Pakistan starts from PKR 60,000 (roughly Rs 18,150) for the 8GB/256GB model.

In Pakistan, the Tecno Camon 30S is listed in all of the above mentioned colours except for the Blue variant. While sightings have been reported within Kenya and Mali markets too; sales haven't commenced yet through third-party retailers or otherwise confirmed channels outside Pakistan.
