Tecno Camon I with 18:9 display, 13MP cameras launched at Rs. 8,999
The Camon I will have to fight against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Y1, Redmi Note 4, Moto E4 Plus etc.
Tecno Mobile, a new entrant in the Indian smartphone market, today launched a new smartphone. Dubbed as Tecno Camon I, it is the company's first "Full View" display smartphone. While it does feature an edge-to-edge screen, it is not a bezel-less phone. The top and bottom bezels are apparently thick, but the side bezels are relatively thin. It should also be noted that the display has an aspect ratio of 18:9.
The Tecno Camon I will be available in three trendy color options; Champagne Gold, Midnight Black and City Blue. As far as the pricing part is concerned, the smartphone costs Rs. 8,999. It will go on sale through various offline channels across India. Talking about the device, it offers decent specifications in the sub-10K category. That said, the Camon I will have to fight against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Y1, Redmi Note 4, Moto E4 Plus etc.
Display
Coming to the specifications, the Tecno Camon I arrives with a 5.65-inch FullView display that delivers a HD+ resolution of 1,440×720 pixels. The display is covered by a 2.5D curved glass on top for added protection.
Hardware and memory
Powering the device is a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.3GHz which is coupled with Mali-T760 GPU. The smartphone also offers 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which has become a common standard in this price range. There is a dedicated microSD card to further expand the storage up to 64GB.
Optics
In the camera department, the new Tecno phone flaunts a 13MP rear-mounted primary camera enabled with Quad LED flash and PDAF. Up front, there is another 13MP sensor with video chat flash for selfies and video calling. The device draws its energy from a 3,050mAh battery that is placed under its hood.
Software and connectivity
For software, the Tecno Camon I runs on its custom HiOS which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers features including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS, OTG, dual-SIM and micro USB port. The handset measures 152.2 × 71.1 × 7.75mm and its weight is 172 grams.
Tecno Mobile
First founded in 2006, Tecno Mobile came to the Indian market only last year with the launch of its "i-series' of budget smartphones. However, with the launch of Camon I, the company hopes to strengthen its foothold.
