Viva V1 feature phone launched in India; costs a mere Rs. 349
At the time when we are talking about the emergence of 5G networks, Viva V1, a 2G feature phone has been launched in India at an affordable price point of Rs. 349.
The mobile phone market in India is already obsessed with many models from various manufacturers, both global and local. Now, a new domestic player called Viva has come up with its very first device - the Viva V1. It is an ultra budget-centric feature phone priced at a mere Rs. 349 and will be exclusive to the e-commerce portal Shopclues. This device will definitely be a good buy for those who just want a handset to make and answer calls and send SMS.
The Viva V1 feature phone boasts a 1.44-inch monochrome display and an alphanumeric keypad. The company touts that the monochrome display will be visible at any time of the day without any glitches. The handset also comes with other features such as FM Radio, torchlight, vibrator, and a 650mAh battery. Similar to the iconic Nokia 3310, this one is said to be preloaded with the snake game.
In terms of other features and specifications, the Viva V1 comes with a single SIM card slot supporting 2G networks. Also, there are basic features such as Phonebook, Calendar, Calculator, and others those are commonly seen on feature phones.
Made in India phone
Viva V1 has been launched in Orange and Blue color options and there is 1-year manufacturer warranty provided by the company. Notably, this device is a Made in India product and fits in the affordable price point of the market.
More Viva phones to be launched
In addition to launching the Viva V1, the company also announced that it will launch more such devices in the feature phone market segment with a similar display. It has been revealed that they will launch innovative and exclusive devices in the 1.44-inch mobile phone category. We need to wait for further information from the company to know how they will bring about a competition in the feature phone market segment in the country.
2G networks to be phased out by 2020
We recently came across a report that the 2G are to be phased out by the year 2020. Given that 5G is emerging, we can expect the 2G phones and networks to be extinct in the coming years. At this point in time, how will 2G feature phone survive in the market is a big question that remains unanswered. We can expect Viva to come up with 4G-enabled feature phones like the Reliance JioPhone and the upcoming Nokia 4G feature phone.
