Vivo S5 With Four Rear Cameras Launched; Price Starts At Rs. 27,000
Vivo has launched its latest S series smartphone -- the Vivo S5 with an emphasis on camera and design. The latest smartphone from Vivo offers some peculiarities that we have not seen on previously launched smartphones from the company. As of now, the Vivo S5 is limited to China but might make its way to subcontinents in the coming months.
Vivo S5 Design And Hardware
The Vivo S5 comes with a premium build quality with a metal-glass sandwich finish. The back panel of the phone offers a gradient finish that changes the color depending on the light intensity.
The phone has a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED display donning FHD+ resolution with 2.5D curved tempered glass protection. The display has a taller 20:9 aspect ratio with a tiny punch hole cutout at the top right corner to house a 32MP selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture lens. Plus, the display also has an embedded optical fingerprint sensor.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 712 is the brains of the operation with 8GB RAM and 128/256GB ROM. The phone does not have a microSD card, but it does have dual nano-SIM card slots with support for 4G LTE and VoLTE on both slots. The Vivo S5 runs on Android 9 Pie with FunTouch OS 9.0 skin on top. As of now, there is no official word about Android 10 update.
The quad-camera array at the back of the phone consists of a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.79 aperture lens, an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, 2MP macro lens with an f/2.4 aperture lens, and lastly a 5MP depth sensor to obtain those portrait shots with blurred background. The main camera can record slow motion and 4K videos.
A 4,100 mAh battery combined with 22.5W fast charging via the USB Type-C can replenish zero to 50 percent of the battery in 30 minutes, thanks to a 97 percent power conversion rate. Plus, the phone does retain a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Price And Availability
The Vivo S5 comes in light blue, blue, and black colors. The base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage retails for 2698 Yuan (approx Rs. 27,000) and the top of the line variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage costs 2998 Yuan (approx Rs. 30,000). Both iterations will go on sale from November 22 and will be up for pre-order from November 15 in China.
Though the Vivo S5 has mid-tier hardware, it is surely one of the best and unique looking smartphone from Vivo. One can buy a well-rounded device at this price range. However, it is hard to find a replacement that looks as good as the Vivo S5.
