All the smartphone OEMs are working towards rolling out the Android Oreo update to their smartphones. While some of them have rolled out the update already, it is mostly meant for the flagship models and not the devices in the other segments. Now, Vivo has come up with its plan for the Android 8.0 update revealing the names of the devices that will get the update and the schedule for the same.

These 7 Vivo smartphones will receive Android 8.0 Oreo

Vivo has taken to its official forum to reveal the small list of Vivo smartphones those will get the Android 8.0 Oreo update. According to the same, the software engineers at the company have started working on the Oreo update based on Funtouch UI for the smartphones launched by Vivo. In the first phase, the update will be rolled out as a beta version to just one smartphone from the eligible devices list.

Well, the first Vivo smartphone to get the Oreo beta update is the Vivo X20 and, this beta update will be rolled out sometime in April 2018. After the successful testing, the other devices in the list revealed by the company will get the Oreo update. The list of Vivo smartphones that will receive a taste of Android 8.0 Oreo are,

  • Vivo X20
  • Vivo X20 Plus
  • Vivo X9s
  • Vivo X9s Plus
  • Vivo Xplay6
  • Vivo X9
  • Vivo X9 Plus

The upcoming version of the company's custom ROM, the Funtouch OS will have most features of the Android 8.0 Oreo update such as the updated notification panel, adaptive icons, picture-in-picture mode, the redesigned settings menu and more. For now, there is no word on when the update will be rolled out globally.

If the latest custom ROM is listed on the company's official website, then the Vivo smartphone users in the other markets outside China can also download the same and flash it on their smartphones so that their devices are updated to the latest Funtouch OS based on Android 8.0 Oreo.

Well, it is not surprising to see that the mid-range smartphones from Vivo aren't on the list as the company does not have a good track record of rolling out timely updates to its devices. We are not sure if there will be an improvement on this front this year but the same remains skeptical.
