Vivo V40 Renders & Specs Leak: New Back Design, Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, IP68 Rating, and More

The upcoming Vivo V40 series is getting closer to launch, with leaked renders and specifications offering a glimpse of what to expect. This information comes courtesy of 91Mobiles that got the upcoming smartphone's renders from reliable tech source Sudhanshu Ambhore.

A Modern Makeover

Unlike its predecessor, the Vivo V40 sports a complete design overhaul. It embraces the current trend of curved-edge displays, offering a sleek and premium look. The front boasts minimal bezels for a maximized viewing experience, with a discreet punch-hole cutout in the center for the selfie camera. The volume rocker and power button reside conveniently on the right edge for easy access.

Intriguing Rear Camera Layout

The back of the phone is dominated by a large, oval-shaped module that instantly grabs attention. Nestled within this module is a circular area housing a dual rear camera system. The presence of Zeiss branding alongside the cameras hints at a potential focus on high-quality optics.

Below this primary camera setup lies another oval section. This section houses the signature Vivo Aura light, adding a touch of personalization.

An additional sensor resides in this section as well, but its function remains a mystery for now. Leaked renders showcase the V40 in two color options: a sophisticated purple and a classic grey/silver.

Familiar Hardware with a Bump

While the design boasts a significant refresh, the leaked specifications suggest the V40 retains some similarities to its predecessor, the Vivo V30 (review). The display size is expected to remain the same at 6.78 inches, featuring an FHD+ AMOLED panel for vibrant visuals.

The processor might also be a carryover, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 handling the processing power. This will be paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, offering smooth multitasking and ample space for apps and media.

The camera department appears to follow a similar approach. The V40 is rumored to pack a triple-camera system on the back, consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide sensor, and a 50MP selfie camera. While the megapixel count remains unchanged, potential improvements in sensor technology or software processing could still lead to enhanced image quality.

The battery capacity sees a welcome bump to 5,500mAh, potentially offering longer usage time compared to the V30. Additionally, the V40 is said to support 80W fast charging, enabling users to quickly power up their device. Standard connectivity options like dual-SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and USB Type-C are also onboard.

Software and Durability Upgrades

The Vivo V40 is expected to run on the latest Android 14 operating system and boasts an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, a step up from the V30's IP54 rating.
