Vivo X Fold 6 Gets a Foldable-Focused Dimensity 9500 Super Edition Processor: Check Key Specs & Features

Vivo has started revealing more details about the X Fold 6 ahead of its launch later this month, and one of the biggest announcements so far revolves around the processor.

The company has confirmed that the foldable will feature a customized version of MediaTek's upcoming Dimensity 9500 chipset. Called the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, the processor was reportedly developed jointly by Vivo and MediaTek over nearly two years.

Vivo X Fold 6 to Debut With Custom Dimensity 9500 Super Edition Chip

While smartphone brands occasionally receive customized versions of flagship chips, Vivo says this one has been tuned specifically for the way foldables are used.

Vivo Focuses on Multitasking and Large-Screen Apps

Foldable phones are often used differently from traditional smartphones. Owners frequently run multiple apps side by side, switch between floating windows, drag content across screens, and work with desktop-style layouts.

According to Vivo, the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition has been optimized for multi-threaded processing, multi-window rendering, and large-screen productivity tasks.

The company is also pairing the chip with an upgraded version of Atomic Workbench, a feature that allows several apps to remain active simultaneously. Vivo says users should see smoother window switching and drag-and-drop interactions when working across multiple applications.

AI Features Get a Performance Boost

The customized processor is also expected to power several AI-driven features built into the X Fold 6.

Vivo claims AI processing performance has improved significantly compared to the previous generation while reducing power consumption. The company says this should help the phone handle demanding AI tasks more efficiently.

One area receiving attention is voice processing. Vivo says its new AI voice engine can deliver much faster offline transcription speeds while improving recognition accuracy. This could be useful for users who regularly transcribe meetings, lectures, interviews, or voice notes directly on their devices.

The company also says AI-generated summaries are faster, while document-related tools inside the AI File Manager have received improvements for text analysis, summarization, and question-and-answer functions.

A new AI topic-based question feature is also expected to debut with the foldable.

OriginOS 6 Fold to Debut on the Device

The X Fold 6 is expected to launch with OriginOS 6 Fold, Vivo's software platform designed specifically for foldable devices.

The company says the software has been developed alongside the customized chipset, allowing deeper integration between AI features, multitasking tools, and large-screen workflows.

While Vivo has shared several performance claims, independent testing will be needed to see how much of a difference the customizations make in everyday use.

More Specifications Have Emerged

Apart from the processor, reports suggest the Vivo X Fold 6 could feature a 6,900mAh battery, which would be among the largest batteries seen on a mainstream foldable phone.

The camera setup is tipped to include a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. The device is also expected to feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security.

Vivo is expected to unveil the X Fold 6 later this month, with more official details likely to be revealed in the days leading up to launch.
