Vivo X Fold5 Launched with Biggest Battery and Best IP Rating of a Any Foldable, Albeit with an Older Chip
Vivo has launched the X Fold5 foldable smartphone in China, featuring an 8.03-inch 2K+ LTPO display with a120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The cover screen is a 6.53-inch FHD+ LTPO panel, also offering a 120Hz refresh rate and the same brightness level.
The X Fold5 is equipped with an innovative hinge antenna that optimises internal space while maintaining cellular connectivity when folded. Vivo collaborated with Qualcomm to ensure multistandard signal coexistence. The phone's dual-screen enhanced antenna technology allows independent operation of main and secondary screen antennas when unfolded, boosting signal strength by 36% when folded.

Advanced Features and Connectivity
This device stands out as the only folding screen phone supporting IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+ waterproof levels. It can endure exposure to 80° hot water and high-pressure water jets. Additionally, it is the first in its category to achieve IP5X dustproof certification. The phone remains functional at temperatures as low as -20℃.
The X Fold5 offers impressive battery life, allowing for up to 20 hours of calls, nearly 10 hours of navigation, and over four hours of video recording. It features a 50MP 'ultra-sensing’ camera with a Sony IMX921 sensor and OIS, a 50MP telephoto module with a Sony IMX882 sensor, and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle module. Selfies are captured using two 20MP sensors.

Specifications and Pricing
Vivo's X Fold5 introduces the first Android phone integration with Apple Watch for call answering, message viewing, and health data synchronisation via the Vivo health app. It also supports seamless interaction with AirPods. The device can connect to Mac for file management, enabling file drag-and-drop across applications.
The X Fold5 supports iPhone call flow, messages, and notifications without needing device switching. Additionally, iPhones can directly connect to the X Fold5's hotspot for internet access.
This model debuts with a 6000mAh blue ocean battery featuring fourth-generation silicon negative electrode technology. This innovation increases energy density by up to 13% at room temperature and by 20% at low temperatures compared to previous models. The second-generation semi-solid-state battery technology ensures normal power supply even at -30℃.

Vivo collaborated with CATL on a double-layer electrode structure for the X Fold5, raising the silicon content of the negative electrode to 12%, about 2.5 times more than its predecessor. It supports 80W fast wired charging and 40W wireless charging. The Vivo X Fold5 is available for order now and will be released in China on July 2nd.
