Vivo X20 Plus UD launch date and pricing leaked: Arriving next week

Vivo has been creating a lot of buzz in the smartphone world especially after unveiling what could possibly be the first commercial smartphone Vivo X20 Plus UD (alleged name) with a functional on-display fingerprint sensor. All this happened during CES 2018 and since that time the device has been subject to numerous leaks and rumors. Just a few days back the handset appeared on TENAA database and now the alleged pricing and launch date of the device has been leaked.

Popular tipster, Zyad Atef has leaked the information via his Twitter handle and has said that the new Vivo phone will arrive on January 25 at a price of CNY 3998 (roughly Rs. 39,873). While the company is yet to confirm the details about the new smartphone this news has got us pretty excited. Well, the launch is happening next week if the leaked information is true.

Talking about the new technology, Vivo X20 Plus UD will use the in-display fingerprint scanner, called 'Clear ID' from Synaptics. According to the company behind the tech, the scanner sends beams of light through the OLED panel, and then accurately reads the fingerprint to verify the user.

At CES 2018, Synaptics also stated that the new tech has been designed for smartphones with infinity displays and that it's Clear ID in-display fingerprint sensors magically activates in the display only when needed.

Further, the company also announced that Clear ID is faster than alternative biometrics such as 3D facial, highly-secure with SentryPoint technology, and very convenient with one-touch/one-step biometric authentication directly in the touchscreen display area of smartphones.

Moreover, the new Synaptics Clear ID optical fingerprint sensor is said to deliver one-touch high-resolution scanning through the full cover glass and enable sleek, button-free, bezel-free infinity displays making the smartphones look more appealing. "Synaptics' high-performance Clear ID FS9500 optical solution excels with wet, dry and cold fingers, and since it's protected by glass, is durable, scratchproof and waterproof," the company announced.

In any case, we should be hearing more about the device in the coming days as Vivo has promised that it will reveal more information 'soon'.

Expected Features and Specifications of Vivo X20 Plus UD

As for the other features and specs of the smartphone, the TENNA listing reveals that it will come with a 6.43-inch OLED display and a resolution of 2160x1080 pixels. The smartphone will be powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core processor paired with 4GB RAM. Internal storage of the handset is said to be 128GB, with expandable storage up to 256GB via micro SD card.

Talking about the cameras, Vivo X20 Plus UD will likely sport a dual camera setup at the back that will consist of a 12-megapixel lens and a secondary 5-megapixel lens. Up front, the handset will feature a 12-megapixel camera.

The device will be backed by a 3800mAh battery and the handset will come with connectivity options like Bluetooth, USB support, and 4G Internet. The handset will likely be available in Black Gold, Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Matte Black color options. Dimensions of the device are said to be 165.2x80.02x7.35mm and its weight 183.1 gram.
