Vivo X21 has been announced with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Vivo X21, which was hitting the rumor mills frequently has now been announced. It is a high-end smartphone to be unveiled in the X series. The launch of the Vivo X21 comes just a few hours after that of the Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition in China. Similar to the Vivo X20 UD, the X21 comes in a standard variant and an in-display fingerprint sensor variant.

The Vivo smartphone features a 3D glass body, dual rear cameras, AI capabilities in both the front and rear cameras, a high screen-to-body ratio, narrow bezels, and a Snapdragon 660 SoC with a dedicated AI chip. Moreover, as seen in the leaks, the Vivo X21 appears to feature a display notch at the top center of the Super AMOLED panel.

The Vivo X21 adorns a 6.28-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Under its hood, the smartphone makes use of a 14nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC teamed up with Adreno 512 GPU, 6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage space. There is a hybrid dual SIM slot on board the smartphone supporting expandable storage up to 256GB with a microSD card.

For imaging, the Vivo X21 bestows a dual camera setup at its rear with a 12MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and LED flash and a 5MP secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Up front, there is a 12MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0. Connectivity aspects of the Vivo smartphone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS. Other aspects of the smartphone are a 3.5mm audio jack, Hi-Fi audio chip and a 3200mAh battery with support for fast charging.

Vivo X21 comes with a display notch as seen on the iPhone X. The screen-to-body ratio of the smartphone is 90.3%, which is pretty high. The Vivo smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo topped with Funtouch OS 4.0. The 12MP primary sensor at the rear is a Samsung 2L9 sensor with Dual Pixel technology. The Snapdragon 660 processor comes with a dedicated AI chip, which lets the rear camera to use AI for scene recognition, which can detect 17 scenes automatically. Also, the selfie camera is powered by AI beauty recognition to click perfect selfies.

The Vivo X21 has been announced in three colors such as Ruby Red, Aurora White and Black. The standard variant of the smartphone with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage space is priced at 2898 yuan (approx. Rs. 29,870). The variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage space is priced at 3198 yuan (approx. Rs. 32,960). When it comes to the Vivo X21 with in-display fingerprint sensor, the smartphone is priced at 3598 yuan (approx. Rs. 37,080) and comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB memory capacity.

While the standard variant of the Vivo X21 will be available for purchase from March 24, the in-display fingerprint sensor variant will go on sale from March 28.
