The latest trend in the smartphone industry is a smartphone with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. Smartphone makers like Vivo and Huawei have already launched smartphones with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. According to a new report from Phone radar, Vivo is all set to launch the Vivo X21 UD in India in the coming days, which is expected to cost Rs 34,990. However, there is no information on the actual launch date of the device.

If this report tends to be true, then the Vivo X21 will be the first smartphone to launch in India with an in-screen fingerprint sensor which will make Vivo the first company to do so.

Design

The Vivo X21 UD looks similar to the recently launched Vivo V9. However, the X21 UD moniker has a glass back panel, whereas the V9 has a plastic back panel. The Vivo X21 UD has a dual curved glass design with an FHD+ OLED display and a notch on the top, which is similar to the likes of the Apple iPhone X.

Specifications

The device has a 6.28 inch FHD+ OLED display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080px. This is a taller device, as it has a modern 19:9 aspect ratio, which will be easy to use on a single hand. The smartphone has a staggering 90.3% screen to body ratio, which is higher than the iPhone X and the Galaxy S9. The Vivo X21 UD offers a completely immersed smartphone experience due to a higher screen to body ratio. However, it is also most likely to break if it slips out user's hand. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the special edition Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE Octa-core chipset with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. The Snapdragon 660 AIE is a special processor, which offers additional AI capabilities compared to the standard Snapdragon 660 processor.

On to the optics, the smartphone has a dual primary camera setup with a 24 MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 5 MP secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture, which will help the smartphone to capture depth effect or photos with background blur. The smartphone has a 24 MP front-facing selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture, which also supports face unlock.

Conclusion

On paper, the Vivo X21 UD sounds like a solid piece of technology. However, we cannot comment anything on real-world usage until we use this device.
