Vivo X500 Pro Series Camera and Display Specifications Confirmed Ahead of Next Month's Launch: What to Expect

Vivo is preparing to launch its next flagship smartphone lineup in China, with the Vivo X500 series expected to bring major upgrades to display technology, cameras and video recording. The lineup is expected to include the Vivo X500, X500 Pro and top-end X500 Pro Max.

Vivo is moving directly from the X300 generation to the X500 series, effectively skipping the X400 branding. The decision is reportedly linked to tetraphobia, a cultural aversion to the number four in parts of East Asia, including China.

Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao has been revealing details about the upcoming smartphones, including key information about the Vivo X500 Pro Max display and X500 series camera specifications.

Vivo X500 Pro Max to Get 6.85-inch 2K Display

The Vivo X500 Pro Max will reportedly be the world's first smartphone to feature a 6.85-inch BOE Q11 2K Zeiss Master Color display. The high-resolution panel is designed to deliver sharper visuals while improving power efficiency and durability.

The BOE Q11 panel uses upgraded light-emitting materials and platform-level improvements. Vivo claims these changes reduce motion blur during scrolling by 93% compared with the previous generation.

Hardware-level Demura processing and Vivo's pixel-level compensation algorithms are also said to improve colour uniformity by 43% and brightness uniformity by 22%, providing more consistent image quality across the display.

Lower Power Consumption and Improved Display Life

Despite its higher 2K resolution, the X500 Pro Max display is claimed to consume 21% less power than Vivo's previous-generation 1.5K panel. Vivo also says the panel's lifespan has doubled.

The phone will feature an under-display high-precision multispectral sensor for automatic brightness adjustment. Vivo claims the sensor can detect different light spectrums and colour temperatures with a 98% match to light perceived by the human eye.

The system supports brightness adjustment precision of 0.3 lux, which Vivo describes as the best in the Android segment.

Vivo X500 Series Camera Specifications

Camera performance will be a major focus of the Vivo X500 series, particularly the Pro models.

The X500 Pro series is expected to feature a Zeiss Super Dynamic main camera developed by Vivo's BluePrint imaging team in collaboration with Sony. The primary camera will reportedly use a 50-megapixel BluePrint Guangyu 900 sensor with a 1/1.28-inch size.

Vivo claims the sensor can achieve up to 17EV of dynamic range, helping preserve more detail in bright highlights and dark areas. This could be particularly useful for video recording in challenging, backlit scenes.

4K 240fps Video and 200MP Periscope Camera

The Vivo X500 Pro series is reportedly capable of 4K video recording at 240fps for slow-motion footage. It may also support 4K 120fps HDR video with direct HDR output.

The main camera is expected to feature 3-degree optical image stabilisation (OIS) alongside CIPA 7.0 professional stabilisation for smoother handheld footage.

Meanwhile, tipster Digital Chat Station has claimed that the X500 series could inherit the 200-megapixel "Thanos" periscope telephoto camera from the Vivo X300 Ultra. The camera reportedly uses a large-format 200-megapixel HP0 sensor.

Vivo X500 Series Launch Date

Vivo is expected to reveal more details about the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, along with OriginOS 7, next week. The Vivo X500 series is scheduled to launch in China in September, with pricing and availability expected to be announced closer to the launch.
