Vivo has officially unveiled a new affordable 5G phone in its Y series in China. The Vivo Y500 offers top-tier specifications at a competitive price. The Vivo Y500 features an AMOLED display, a MediaTek chipset, a massive battery, fast charging support, and a top-tier IP rating for resistance to water and dust.

The Vivo Y500 price starts at 1,399 yuan (Roughly Rs. 17,300) for the 8GB+128GB model. Additionally, the handset also comes in 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, and 12GB/512GB configurations that cost 1,599 yuan (Roughly Rs. 19,800), 1,799 yuan (Roughly Rs. 22,250), and 1,999 yuan (Roughly Rs. 24,700), respectively.

Vivo Y500 Specifications

The device is powered by an Octa Core MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, clocked up to 2.5GHz, paired with a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. It offers RAM options of 8GB or 12GB LPDDR4X and storage choices ranging from 128GB to 512GB UFS 3.1. The phone runs on Android 15 with OriginOS 15.

It features a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a 20:9 aspect ratio. An impressive feature of the Vivo Y500 is its massive 8200mAh battery, which supports fast charging at 90W and reverse wired charging. The rear camera setup consists of a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor, while the front houses a 32MP camera.

The battery employs semi-solid-state technology, allowing for extended usage times even in extreme temperatures: up to 16.7 hours of video playback at -20°C and up to 22 hours outdoors at 40°C. The phone's connectivity is enhanced by a unique antenna system that improves signal strength by up to 255% compared to previous models.

Additional features include USB Type-C audio support, stereo speakers, dust and water resistance (IP69+ / IP69 / IP68 ratings), and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, USB Type-C port, NFC compatibility, and support for both SA/NSA modes on the network front. It also features AI-driven network selection, which anticipates weak signals in areas like elevators and basements, switching networks proactively.

The Vivo Y500 is available in Glacier Blue, Dragon Crystal Purple, and Black colour options. Vivo's latest model boasts advanced IP66+IP68+IP69 ratings, having passed a rigorous immersion test at a depth of 1.5 meters for up to 24 hours. This includes motherboard-level waterproofing alongside internal protection measures.

The Diamond Rock architecture enhances durability, certified by SGS Gold Label Five-Star Drop and Fall Resistance. Compared to its predecessor, it offers improved resistance: micro-drop by 47%, compression and bending by double, and height drop by 70%. Shock absorption at the motherboard level ensures internal protection against drops.
