WhatsApp is Ending Support for These iPhones in the Coming Months: Everything You Need to Know
WhatsApp is set to end support for certain older iPhone models in the coming months. The Meta-owned messaging service has already stopped beta testers from installing the latest version on these devices. By May, users must ensure their iPhones are running a recent iOS version to continue receiving WhatsApp updates. This move allows WhatsApp to incorporate features that leverage the latest iOS technologies.
For those participating in WhatsApp's beta program, it's essential to have an iPhone operating on iOS 15.1 or newer. This requirement is necessary before installing WhatsApp beta for iOS version 25.1.10.72. WABetaInfo, a reliable source for tracking new features and changes on the platform, identified this update.

WhatsApp Beta Compatibility and Update Process
The TestFlight builds of WhatsApp are not compatible with older iOS versions. If your device still runs on iOS 14 or earlier, you can update it by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update > Install Now. After updating, you can install the latest testing version of WhatsApp on your device.
Unfortunately, this marks the end for beta testers using iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 5s models. These devices cannot upgrade to iOS 15, meaning the current WhatsApp beta will function only for a few more weeks before expiring. Users can switch to the stable app version, which will receive updates until early May.
Stable Version Support and Future Updates
The stable version of WhatsApp will continue supporting these older models until May 5. After this date, users must update to at least iOS 15.1 or consider upgrading their smartphones if no software update is available.
Once support for iOS 12 through iOS 14 ends, WhatsApp will be able to introduce new features available on recent iOS versions. The App Store listing already indicates that the app requires at least iOS 15.1, while WhatsApp Business will also raise its minimum requirement to this version in May.
This transition ensures that users benefit from enhanced functionalities and improved performance by aligning with Apple's latest technological advancements.
