Will OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 get Android 7.0 Nougat Update?

As per a leaked Geekbench test report, OnePlus One is seen running the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. And a separate test report by GFXBench shows OnePlus 2 running Android 7.1 Nougat.

Surprising it is..

While OnePlus 2 was in records of receiving the latest update, it is the OnePlus One that has surprised the online world by making it to the list of the devices getting Android's sweetest flavor. This is because the Chinese tech giant-OnePlus had promised to offer software updates for a maximum of 24 months and OnePlus One has already crossed the mark of 30 months. This will be come as a good news for consumers who are still loyal to their OnePlus One handsets.

Still Not Confirmed

However, it is worth mentioning that OnePlus One is powered by Snapdragon 801 that does not support Vulcan graphics API, which makes the handset non-compatible with Android 7.0 Nougat.

No Official word by OnePlus

Recently OnePlus announced that the company is working on the Android 7.0 Nougat update for OnePlus 3 and is planning to roll it out soon. Pete Lau, OnePlus's CEO took it to twitter to further confirm that the update will be rolled out as early as Christmas this year. However, there's no such mention of OnePlus 2 and OnePlus One getting the update.

If you can't wait for the official update, you can download the CyanogenMod CM14 ROM which is based on the Android 7.0 Nougat.

Expected new features

The Android 7.0 Nougat will add several new features to OnePlus smartphones. The handsets will get Multi-Window Support, Support for Google Daydream, Data Saver Mode, Interactive notifications, etc.
