Xiaomi 18 May Launch With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Chipset, Dual 200MP Rear Cameras: All We Know
Just a couple of days back, Oppo launched the Find X10 series smartphones with 200MP rear cameras. And now, Xiaomi might also be gearing up to launch a new smartphone with 200MP rear cameras. The phone in question here is the Xiaomi 18.

Its elder siblings, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, were launched recently, and leaks about the next toy in town have started surfacing. Here is what we know so far.
Xiaomi 18: Expected specs and features
According to an Android Authority report, attributed to tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo, the Xiaomi 18 will be positioned as a small-screen flagship. This follows the approach Xiaomi has taken with its previous base models, which have offered flagship hardware in a relatively compact form factor.
The smartphone is tipped to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, which was launched last month during the Snapdragon Summit in Maui.
The Xiaomi 18 is also tipped to feature a metal body, which could give it a premium feel. However, the exact design and dimensions of the phone remain unknown.
Speaking of the camera, the smartphone may feature a 200MP primary camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens. An additional 50MP ultra-wide camera could complete the rear camera setup.
If these details turn out to be true, the Xiaomi 18 could offer a versatile camera system, with high-resolution sensors for both standard and zoom photography. The cameras are also tipped to benefit from Leica's imaging and processing, potentially bringing film-simulation styles to the phone.
The camera system could be housed in a large module at the upper-left corner of the rear panel, similar to the one on the Xiaomi 17. However, Xiaomi has not confirmed any of these specifications yet.
Despite its compact form factor, the Xiaomi 18 could pack a sizeable battery. Smart Pikachu's latest leak points towards a 7,000mAh battery, while an earlier report from another tipster, Panda is Bald, suggested that the phone could feature a 7,200mAh battery.
The Xiaomi 18 is also tipped to arrive in multiple colour options, although the exact shades have not been revealed.
Will the Xiaomi 18 launch in India?
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro will make its way to India later. However, the company has not shared any details about the standard Xiaomi 18's India launch.
Speaking of the price, when you factor in the rumoured camera upgrades and next-generation chipset, the Xiaomi 18 could be priced above Rs 1 lakh if it makes its way to India. But all of this is mere speculation at the time so take this information with a pinch of salt.
