Xiaomi Confirms XRING 01 Chip – Company's First Self-Developed Silicon Will Arrive in Late May

Xiaomi has officially confirmed its self-developed smartphone chip, named the Xiaomi XRING 01. The company's CEO, Lei Jun, revealed both the name and the launch timeline. While the official specifications have yet to be released, leaks and rumours have already given us enough idea of what to expect.

Xiaomi XRING 01 Launching in Late May

Lei Jun, the co-founder and CEO of Xiaomi, took to his Weibo handle to reveal that Xiaomi's first smartphone chip will be named "XRING 01" and will be launched in late May.

He highlighted that the XRING 01 is entirely developed and designed in-house by Xiaomi. In the comments, he also revealed that the company began its chip development journey back in September 2014.

Xiaomi XRING 01: What to Expect?

As noted, the brand hasn't shared any details regarding its features.
However, earlier reports suggest the chip will be built using TSMC's N4P process-a 4nm manufacturing node.

The XRING 01 is rumored to feature an octa-core CPU with a 1+3+4 configuration. This setup includes a high-performance Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.2GHz, three Cortex-A725 cores at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz. For graphics, the chip is expected to use an Imagination Technologies IMG DXT72 GPU, clocked at 1.3GHz. Reports claim it could even outperform the Adreno 740 found in Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

While the XRING 01 may not directly compete with top-tier processors like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite or Dimensity 9400, it is expected to sit near the flagship segment.
