Xiaomi Rolls Out a New HyperOS 2 Update With Enhanced Photo Editing Features And AI Tools
Xiaomi has started rolling out a new HyperOS 2 update in China, enhancing photo editing capabilities, introducing AI tools, and boosting performance. This update brings a host of new features to improve the user experience significantly.
Xiaomi HyperOS 2 Update Brings New Features
The Photos app now includes AI Matting 2.0, allowing users to precisely cut out subjects and swap backgrounds with dynamic effects based on time, location, or weather. Group photos can be enhanced with smart beauty filters. Additionally, animated stickers, layout collages, and custom templates are now supported.

Enhanced Photo Management
AI photo sorting is a new addition that groups images by people, time, or location. Users can search using phrases like "wedding photos," and the system retrieves relevant pictures. The Memory Album feature automatically creates photo stories using this data.
Photo editing tools have seen improvements too. Users can now adjust colors, apply filters, and tweak parameters more efficiently. The crop function will receive a fix in the upcoming patch.
Smoother User Interface
The status bar and gesture guide now appear instantly when returning to the home screen from certain apps. UI transitions have been made smoother for a better user experience.
Photos and videos backed up to Xiaomi Cloud maintain their original quality. The updated layout allows users to view and manage cloud-stored files within the gallery view. Backup status and data usage can be monitored in real-time.
Improved File Browsing
The HyperOS 2 update enhances file browsing and multi-device functionality. Photos can be searched and transferred between devices more swiftly. Shared albums now sync across Xiaomi phones, tablets, and TVs seamlessly.
A Smart Service dashboard has been introduced. It displays photo storage statistics, duplicate files, and phone usage patterns while offering suggestions to free up space.
The rollout of this update is available for supported models in China. There is no information yet on when these features will be available on devices outside China.
