Xiaomi Is Ending Software Support for These Phones in 2025—Is Yours on the List?
Smartphones, like all tech, have a shelf life when it comes to software updates. They start strong with regular Android upgrades and security patches, but eventually, support slows down and stops altogether. Xiaomi has now updated its End-Of-Support (EOS) list, officially retiring software updates for several Redmi and Poco devices.
If your phone is on this list, it means no more Android OS updates, security patches, or Xiaomi's new HyperOS enhancements. While your device will still work, the lack of security updates makes it more vulnerable to cyber threats.

Which Xiaomi Phones Are Losing Software Support?
Xiaomi has added the following smartphones to its EOS list (spotted by Xiaomi Time):
- Redmi Note 11
- Redmi Note 11 5G
- Redmi Note 11 SE
- Redmi Note 11S
- Redmi Note 11S 5G
- Redmi 10C
- Redmi 10 (2022)
- POCO X4 Pro 5G
- POCO M4 Pro
These are mainly budget and mid-range models that have now reached the end of their typical update cycle, which usually includes two or three major Android updates and around four years of security patches. Xiaomi is now moving on to supporting newer devices, leaving these models behind.
What Happens If Your Xiaomi Phone No Longer Gets Updates?
When software support ends, your phone doesn't suddenly stop working. You can still use it for calls, apps, and day-to-day tasks. However, there are some important risks to consider:
1. No More Security Patches
Without regular security updates, your phone becomes more vulnerable to malware, phishing attacks, and data breaches. If a major vulnerability is discovered, Xiaomi won't be patching it anymore.
2. No New Android Features
Android updates bring more than just security fixes-they introduce better privacy settings, performance improvements, and AI-driven features. Without updates, you'll miss out on these advancements.
3. App Compatibility Issues
Over time, apps may stop working properly on older, unsupported software. While this won't happen immediately, certain apps might start requiring newer Android versions, leaving you with limited functionality.
Should You Upgrade Your Xiaomi Phone?
If your phone is on Xiaomi's EOS list, upgrading is something to seriously consider. Newer Xiaomi models come with longer update cycles, better security, and performance improvements, making them more future-proof.
On the other hand, Samsung is also ending software support for some of its Galaxy phones. Be sure to check it out if you still rock an aging Galaxy phone.
