Xiaomi Enters the Chip Race with Launch of XRING O1 and XRING T1

Xiaomi has made a significant leap into the high-end SoC market with its first self-developed chipset, the XRING O1. It is entirely an in-house creation by Xiaomi, marking a milestone in their technological journey that began in September 2014. The company invested over 13.5 billion yuan to bring this chip to fruition.

Currently, it powers the Xiaomi 15S Pro and Pad 7 Ultra, with plans to feature in future flagship devices from the brand. Here's everything you should know about the company's in-house processor.

This XRING O1 is crafted using a second-generation 3 nm process and boasts 19 billion transistors. It features a 10-core CPU and a 16-core Immortalis-G925 GPU, ensuring top-tier performance and exceptional power efficiency. Additionally, it incorporates Xiaomi's fourth-generation ISP and a 6-core NPU, delivering 44 TOPS for sophisticated AI processing.

Alongside the XRING O1, Xiaomi unveiled the XRING T1, its first smartwatch chip with a self-developed 4G baseband. This development signifies a crucial step in Xiaomi's chip innovation path. The XRING T1 supports eSIM for independent communication and excels in battery efficiency. It underwent over 7,000 lab tests and more than a year of real-world adjustments across over 100 cities.

The XRING T1 enhances 4G performance by 35% compared to competitors while reducing power consumption for voice and data functions. It also offers features such as customizable watch faces, remote camera preview, and smartphone-free control of Xiaomi vehicles. This chip runs the new Xiaomi Watch S4 15th Anniversary Version.

Commitment to In-House Development

Xiaomi's commitment to developing its technology is evident through these innovations. The company's journey into chip development started nearly a decade ago and has now culminated in these groundbreaking products. By designing chips like the Xring O1 and XRING T1 internally, Xiaomi aims to enhance device performance while maintaining energy efficiency.

The introduction of these chips not only showcases Xiaomi's engineering prowess but also positions them as formidable players in the semiconductor industry. As they continue to innovate, consumers can expect more advanced features and improved device capabilities from upcoming Xiaomi products.
