Xiaomi may launch a modified version of the Redmi Note 2 Prime in India on December 15
Xiaomi is all set to launch a new device in India. A teaser shared by Amazon.in partially reveals a Redmi range device from Xiaomi's stable. The image is accompanied by a tagline #PrimeIsComing
So far it seems that the alleged device is none other the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime which was launched a few months back. However it's worth noting that the Redmi Note 2 Prime comes with a Mediatek Helio X10 SoC with eight cores clocked at 2.2GHz each.

Just in case you have been following Xiaomi for some time now then you must be aware that the Chinese brand is prohibited by Supreme Court of India from selling Mediatek device in India thanks to patent issue with Ericsson. Hence it quite surprising to see Xiaomi launching the device in India - possibly they have resolved the issue with the Finish company. Or is the leaked device something else?
As expected Xiaomi is denying that the leaked device isn't what we are all expecting. Instead sources close to FoneArena claims that the high flying company will launch a 'secret' new product in India. However it is possible to draw to strikingly contrasting conclusion from Xiaomi's statement. Either Xiaomi is planning to launch an entire new Redmi device or a modified version of the Redmi Note 2 with a new internals - possibly a Snapdragon 600 series SoC eg. SD615, SD617 or even a SD620.
Nevertheless even if Xiaomi launches the Redmi Note 2 with a Snapdragon internals it is expected that most of the other specs will remain the same. If so it's worth noting that it will give a stiff competition to the aging Lenovo K3 Note and the Yu Yureka Plus which still rule the 10K range.
Recently we at GizBot reviewed the Redmi Note 2 Prime and came out quite impressed with the result. In fact it has one of the best cameras for a device priced near about Rs 10,000 (CNY 999).
However just in case Xiaomi has 'real' plans to launch an entire new device then that might be the Xiaomi Redmi 2A. Apparently this is a cheaper variant of the Redmi 2 which sells in China for a price of Rs 4,999 (CNY 499) with a 1.5GHz quad core Leadcore SoCs on the inside.

Nevertheless Xiaomi has already revealed that the 'secret' product will launch on December 15th. Hence there's no option to wait till then to know more about the so called 'secret' product from Xiaomi. One thing is for sure though, whatsoever be the actual product it will indeed be placed below Rs 10,000 in India - after all it's a part of the budget Redmi series.
