Xiaomi has introduced a new version of the Mi 5X in China. The new variant that has been launched comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Originally the smartphone was announced with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
So basically the new handset sees a decrease in storage capacity but the good thing is that consumers now looking to buy the new Xiaomi Mi 5X can buy the device at a cheaper price. Along with the storage cut the company has priced the 32GB variant of Mi 5X slightly lower and has been announced at 1,299 Yuan (approximately Rs. 12,500).
Just to recall, the 64GB Xiaomi Mi 5X was launched in China at a price of 1,499 Yuan (approximately Rs. 14,000). Further reports indicate that the 32GB variant of Mi 5X will likely be available in Gold, Rose Gold, and Black color variants. However, every other features and specification remain the same between the two variants.
Talking about the specifications, Mi 5X comes with a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC under the hood and it is paired with 4GB of RAM. The handset offers 32GB as well as 64GB storage options. The storage is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
In terms of optics, Xiaomi's Mi 5X is also the company's second smartphone with dual rear camera setup, after the flagship Mi 6. The device is equipped with a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture and another 12-megapixel telephoto sensor with f/2.6 aperture. At the front, there is a 5-megapixel front camera with real-time beautification feature. Xiaomi claims that the dual-camera setup is capable of delivering DSLR-like photos, with a depth of field effect while capturing portrait shots.
Further, the Mi 5X is backed by a 3080mAh battery and the smartphone runs MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat 7.0 out-of-the-box. The smartphone supports 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C port as connectivity options. There's a fingerprint sensor on board as well which is located on the back panel. Other sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, infrared, magnetometer, and proximity sensor.
The Mi 5X is expected to make its debut in India next month.
