Xiaomi Mi A2 tipped to feature Snapdragon 660 processor
Xiaomi is gearing up to launch two new Android One phones.
Xiaomi seems to be gearing up to launch the successor of Mi A1, reports XDA. The latest speculation is based on a new device's firmware files, and it appears that it would be an Android One smartphone like its precursor.
The device codenamed "jasmine_sprout" and most likely being launched as Xiaomi Mi A2 would reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset. The files also suggest it may be absed on the recently launched Mi 6X and would run Android 8.1 Oreo stock version, and will support Project Treble.
Talking of the Mi 6X, the smartphone comes with a 6-inch, Full HD+ (2160 x 1080) display and is powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 4GB/6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It features a dual 12MP + 20MP rear camera with 2x optical zoom and draws power from a 3010mAh battery.
XDA also found evidence of a potential Xiaomi Redmi Android One device, codenamed "daisy_sprout," which will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun hinted few weeks ago that the Redmi series will soon be getting its own Android One smartphone. The recently leaked Xiaomi Redmi S2 is said to boast a Snapdragon 635 chip, so there's a possibility the Redmi Android One phone will be based on this. Not much is known about the devices as yet, but as the launch inches closer, we might see more info popping up.
Besides, there are reports that the Mi Mix 2S will also get to taste the new flavour of Android. This comes in line with a post that was seen on MIUI forum which now has been deleted.
The report further suggests that even after the details related to the post have been removed from the MIUI forums, a team of XDA Developers (h/t FunkyHuawei.club) has confirmed the fact that the Android 9.0 firmware is in the development phase for the Mi Mix 2S. Further, the leaked OTA build for the Mi Mix 2S also indicates that Google and Xiaomi could be working together to roll out the preview for the Mi Mix 2S.
Not much is known about the Mi Mix 2S, but if it gets the Android P preview, it would be a welcomed gift for the Mi community.
