Xiaomi Mi Max 3 firmware files leak; Snapdragon 660, wireless charging support in tow
The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is expected to get launched sometime in June this year.
Xiaomi started this year with the launch of Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. We expect the company to unveil the Mi Mix 2S at the upcoming MWC 2018. Other than that, the Chinese phone maker is also rumored to be working on the Mi 7 and Mi Max 3. Being a flagship device, the Mi 7 has appeared in a countless number of leaks to date.
The Mi Max 3, on the other hand, not so much. Well, the good thing is the firmware files of the phablet has been leaked by XDA Developers in its latest report. The firmware files reveal that the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.
However, previous rumors have suggested that the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will feature a Snapdragon 635 chipset. It is likely that the device will have multiple variants based on the processor, default storage and RAM configuration.
The report further claims that the Mi Max 3 will be arriving with a full-screen design and a display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The device is also likely to feature a massive 5,500mAh battery and wireless charging technology. If the information is legit, it could be the second (the first one is rumored to be the Mi 7) Xiaomi device to offer wireless charging support.
What's more, the report highlights that the Mi Max 3 could sport a single rear camera with a Sony IMX363 sensor or a S5K217+S5K5E8 Samsung dual camera module at its back. As for the front camera, the company is tipped to make use of a S5K4H7 sensor from Samsung. The front camera will also be equipped with an iris scanner from OmniVision.
To be precise, the front sensor will be the OmniVision 2281 which "leverages a 1.12-micron pixel with PureCel technology to enable accurate, reliable iris recognition for smartphones, tablets, and notebooks" When it comes to software, the firmware files suggest that the device may come pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is expected to get launched sometime in June this year. Unfortunately, the pricing aspect is not known yet.
