A French designer named Phillippe Starck has just posted a video on his Facebook profile. The video contains a bezel-less smartphone along with the text that reads Mi Mix 2 conceptual product design.
If you are not aware, Xiaomi had previously collaborated with the same designer to make the Mi Mix concept model. While in June this year, Starck was again called by the company to discuss the Mi Mix's successor. So it was quite evident that he would be designing the Mi Mix 2 as well. So the final design of the smartphone shouldn't be too different than the one shown in the video.
As you can see from the video, the bezel-less display of the smartphone seems to be curved on the left and right sides. The top bezel is extremely narrow, while the bottom bezel is relatively thicker. Quite bizarrely, the top bezel is empty, but the bottom bezel is shown to feature the feature the selfie camera.
We don't know the reason behind this unusual placement of the front-facing camera. Maybe the video displays the smartphone up side down. Moving on, there is no presence of a physical Home button or a fingerprint scanner.
This means that the Mi Mix 2 could come with an under-screen touch ID. While we are not tossing out the possibility of happening the same, it seems unlikely at this moment. We already know the smartphone will be unveiled soon.
If we pay heed to the rumors, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will flaunt a 6.4-inch dual curved AMOLED 2K display. The display is said to have a higher screen-to-body ratio of 93% and an aspect ratio of 18:9.
Speaking of other specifications, the smartphone is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It will come with pre-installed Android 7.1.1 Nougat with the layer of MIUI 9 on top.
There could be two memory variants of the Mi Mix 2. The standard will offer 6GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage space. Whereas, the higher version will have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of default storage.
