Xiaomi has just unveiled the second generation Mi Mix dubbed the Mi Mix 2 in China. The latest model looks great with even thinner bezels at the sides and at the bottom as well.
Confirming the previous rumors and speculations, the Mi Mix 2 features a higher screen-to-body ratio than its predecessor. The designer Philippe Starck who designed the original Mi Mix has been involved in the designing of this model as well. The Mi Mix 2 is made using ceramic and metal and features a metallic frame positioned between two layers of ceramic. There is a Special Edition variant of the Mi Mix 2 that comes with 8GB RAM, a ceramic unibody design, and special gold-coated rims.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 comes fitted with a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with custom rounded corners. It is claimed to be custom as the display is not exactly curved at the sides but the glass on top of the screen is curved. The resolution is FHD+ that is 2160 x 1080 pixels and the aspect ratio of 18:9. The Mi Mix 2 appears to be narrower than the other phones with such a large screen size, especially the ones that have a regular 16:9 display.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 comes in four variants based on the storage. Of these, three variants have 6GB RAM and the storage variants between 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Apart from these three models, there is a special edition variant as mentioned above with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
The Mi Mix 2 flaunts a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor at its rear. The sensor comes with f/2.0 aperture and 4-axis OIS. The camera can capture 4K videos and is accompanied with dual LED flash that sits at the right of the camera setup. Up front, there is a 5MP selfie camera at the front with face recognition, autofocus, and FHD 1080p video recording capability.
Hardware and Software
The Mi Mix 2 is equipped with the 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with Adreno 540 graphics unit. The device runs on MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat out of the box. A 3400mAh battery powers the smartphone from within and is coupled with the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. The connectivity aspects include 4G LTE and Bluetooth 5.0 but there is no 3.5mm audio jack and more. There is support for 6 modes 43 bands of Global LTE. Also, there is a fingerprint sensor mounted at the rear below the main camera.
The special edition model of the Mi Mix 2 is priced at RMB 4699 (approx. Rs. 46,000). The regular variants are priced at RMB 3299 (approx. Rs. 32,500), RMB 3599 (approx. Rs. 35,000) and RMB 3999 (approx. 39,000) for the 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage variants respectively.
