Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro may currently be the talk of the town, another upcoming smartphone from the company is equally anticipated. We are talking about the Mi Mix 2S which is expected to get launched at MWC 2018. The rumor mill keeps churning out new details about the smartphone almost every other day and things will probably be the same till the official launch.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S to feature Snapdragon 845, AI-based camera; leak

From what we have been hearing so far, the Mi Mix 2S could be the first Xiaomi phone to feature the Snapdragon 845 SoC. Folks at XDA Forums has now found the device's firmware files that suggest the same; the Mi Mix 2S will indeed powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship processor. Besides this, the smartphone could retain the same 3,400mAh battery just like its predecessor.

On the software front, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S seems to run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. Codenamed as Polaris, the smartphone is likely to be fitted with an FHD+ display with the screen resolution of 2,160×1,080 pixels. In other words, the display will have an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The firmware files also reveal that successor to Mi Mix 2 will feature a Sony IMX363 sensor. Apparently, there is evidence suggesting that the smartphone's camera will be AI-enabled. We could expect Scene Recognition support. This feature sounds similar to Huawei's AI-based scene recognition mode in the camera app.

The camera may further offer automatic HDR, object tracking among others. Other features present onboard said to include IR Blaster, Dual SIM support, and LED flash.

Earlier leaks has suggested that the handset will come with a 5.99-inch panel, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage space. The Mi Mix 2S is expected to come equipped with a rear dual camera setup with two 12MP sensors. Design-wise, it will be bezel-less with almost non-existent bezels.

Despite the rumors and leaks, there is no clarity on the launch date of the smartphone yet. While it is most likely to get unveiled during the upcoming MWC in Barcelona, some reports say something else. Xiaomi could also introduce the Mi Mix 2S before MWC in its home country China.
