Xiaomi Mi5 confirmed to come with Snapdragon 820 in February
After much delay it seems that Xiaomi couldn't wait but announce that their long due Mi5 flagship smartphone will don the latest gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC under the hood.
In a Weibo post Liwan Jiang, Co-Founder and Senior VP of Xiaomi revealed this small but large bit of information regarding the Xiaomi Mi5 last night. However this is quite unfamiliar for Xiaomi to official spill the beans before the launch. In fact this kind of teasers can be expected from OnePlus, but not from Xiaomi at least.

Apparently it seems that Xiaomi couldn't wait to get its share of spotlight ever since LeTV hit the stage with Qualcomm at the CES 2016. For those unaware LeTV added a new feather to its crown by becoming the first company to launch Snapdragon 820 powered Le Max Pro.
The Weibo post of Xiaomi's VP further indicate that the company is planning to launch the smartphone before the Spring Festival or the Chinese New Year which is on February 8th. In fact Xiaomi is presently bumping up the productions of the Mi5, so that they have enough in stock post they launch the flagship in a month's time. This further indicate that Xiaomi has learned from their previous lessons where they had been forced to scurry round to bump up the production of the soon after it's launched, thanks to the insane demand.
