Xiaomi MIUI 10 is under development; confirms VP
Xiaomi MIUI 10 is confirmed to be the next iteration that is likely to be launched later this year.
At the 2017 Annual Meeting for MIUI division in China on Tuesday, Xiaomi discussed the developments of the last year and the roadmap for this year. At the meeting, the co-founder and VP of Xiaomi, Hong Feng, who is heading the MIUI division let out the confirmation that the company has started with the development of MIUI 10. Eventually, we get to know that the next iteration of the interface will be dubbed MIUI 10 and not MIUI X as speculated earlier.
The MIUI 9, which is the latest iteration of the interface was announced in July last year along with the Mi 5X smartphone. The previous iteration - MIUI 8 was announced in May 2016. Going by the same, we can expect the MIUI 10 to be unveiled sometime in the third quarter of this year.
For now, there is no clarity on the features that we can expect to see in the upcoming MIUI 10. However, previous reports have tipped that it might focus on Artificial Intelligence. Even Hong Feng had previously tipped that Xiaomi might focus on AI in the MIUI 10 as it is an emerging trend. Given that Honor View 10 is one of the AI-ready smartphones that exists in the market, there is no doubt that Xiaomi will start focusing on the same. MIUI 10 is also speculated to come with a smart voice assistant just like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa so that the Xiaomi devices can compete with the rivals from other companies.
Back in the last week, he hinted at the development of the MIUI 10 during a live Q&A session conducted by MIUI on Mi Live. He had also mentioned that the MIUI 10 aka MIUI X will be released sometime later this year. He had also interacted with the Mi fans in order to get their opinions and feature requests for the MIUI 10. Now that we know that the MIUI 10 is under development, we need to wait to know more details regarding the same in the coming weeks or months.
Talking about the MIUI 9 update, Xiaomi had recently revealed a list of 40 smartphones those will receive the MIUI Global Stable ROM. Also, the company is yet to roll out the third batch of the update to some smartphones. In the meantime, the company has already started rolling out the MIUI 9.2 update to a slew of smartphones.
