Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Redmi Note 5 on Valentine's Day i.e. February 14. The company has already sent out media invites for the launch event. With the Redmi Note 5 already on the cards, the company might have another surprise for the Indian consumers.
If the rumors and half-baked reports are to be believed, Xiaomi might be launching the first Mi TV in India alongside the smartphone. After teasing the Redmi Note 5, the company took to Twitter to tease another device.
The tweet reads: "Mi fans! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? #WhatIsThat Something wonderful is about to happen this Valentine's Day."
The teaser video shows a device, but it isn't a smartphone considering the ultra-slim body, indicating towards a potential TV launch. Although the media invite doesn't say anything about the Mi TV, there are chances that the company might have something else in the store.
Earlier, there were reports about the company launching a TV in India, but the company rubbished all the rumors. But if the company starts selling TV sets in the Indian market at affordable prices, it might be a big shift in company's revenue. According to a research by Counterpoint, the company already holds the number one position in the Indian smartphone market.
Redmi Note 5
What's certain is the launch of the Redmi Note 5 or Redmi 5 at the event. It is said to boast features similar to the Redmi 5 Plus which was launched earlier in China. As the teaser confirms, the smartphone will sport an 18:9 display and will be sold exclusively through the e-commerce website Flipkart.
Going by the previous leaks, the Redmi Note 5 will feature 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) IPS LCD and will likely be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor which should be paired with either 3GB/ 4GB RAM and 32/ 64GB storage options. It will run on MIUI 9 wrapped under Android 8.0 Oreo.
It is expected to come with a dual camera setup comprising of dual cameras comprising of a 16MP and 5MP sensors. Upfront, it could sport an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording. A 4100mAh battery is said to fuel the smartphone.
Mi Mix 2S
Xiaomi is also expected to take the wraps off the Mi Mix 2S at the MWC 2018. The device has made an appearance on several occasions. Just last week the handset was spotted on AnTuTu benchmark with Snapdragon 845 and other features.
And recently, a drawing showing the smartphone was leaked. The drawing seemed to have been from manufacturer manual and it did reveal the design of the smartphone.
