Xiaomi Redmi 3 with Metal Body, Snapdragon 616, 4100mAH battery launched
Xiaomi Redmi 3 has now been officially launched in China. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset the Redmi 3 is a huge upgrade over its predecessor.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3 now comes with a 5 inch HD (1280x720p) HD display as compared to the 4.7 inch one seen in the last gen budget Redmi device. Despite the huge upgrade in terms of processing power the device still retains the same 2GB of RAM as seen in the Redmi 2 Prime.

SThe USP of the smartphone however lies in the huge 4100mAH Li-Poly battery on the inside. As a matter of fact the Redmi 3 is first device from the Chinese company to sport such a large battery. For those unaware the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was launched towards the fag end of last year with a marginally smaller 4000mAH cell. It worth noting that the Redmi 3 comes with Fast Charging (5V/2A) support.
The cameras too have been updated over its predecessor as the Redmi 3 now comes with a 13MP rear and 5MP front facing selfie snapper. As expected the rear camera is also equipped with a LED flash. Rest of the specifications of the Redmi 3 include a 16GB of on-board storage, dual SIM and MicroSD card expansion slot.
Design wise the Redmi 3 is marked demise over its plastic bodied predecessor. The all new smartphone now only come in a full metal body but also feature a diamond patterned rear which Xiaomi apparently refers to as an "all new lattice design". According to the company statement the all new lattice design is made up of 4166 stars which have woven together to reflect a gorgeous arrangement of diamonds.

Incidentally Xiaomi seems to have got the price of the Redmi 3 right on the money. The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is priced at 699 Yuan (Rs 7,058 approx.) and will go on sale tomorrow in three colour variants - black, silver and gold - via Mi.com and Tmall.
