Xiaomi Redmi 4 has received a price cut in India.

Xiaomi is hitting the tech headlines almost every day of late. It is not surprising as the company has come up with a slew of launches in the budget smartphone market segment. Given the arrive of the Redmi 5, the bestselling Redmi 4 has received a price cut. Though it is a marginal one, it is interesting as the device helped Xiaomi garner a great success.

Xiaomi has taken to Twitter to announce the price drop via its official Redmi India account. The price cut appears to be a permanent one, unlike the past few temporary price cuts. Also, the new pricing of the Redmi 4 is seen on Amazon India and Mi.com.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 has received a price cut of Rs. 500. After the price cut, the Redmi 4 with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage is priced at Rs. 8,499 and the variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at Rs. 10,499. For now, there is no word on the pricing of the 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.

Yesterday, Xiaomi announced the launch of the Redmi 5 smartphone in India starting from Rs. 7,999. The device is slated to go on sale in the country from March 20 via Amazon India and Mi.com. The price cut on the Redmi 4 comes just a day after the Redmi 5 launch.

The Redmi 4 is one of the bestselling Xiaomi smartphones. The device runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow topped with MIUI 8. It bestows a 5-inch HD 720p 2.5D curved glass display and employs a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 435 processor. At the rear, there is a 13MP camera with LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. Up front, the Redmi 4 flaunts a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Both the variants of the Redmi 4 have a microSD card facilitating expandable storage space up to 128GB. The connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and other standard aspects. A 4100mAh battery powers the device keeping the lights turned on and there is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well.
