Xiaomi Redmi 4A finally receiving MIUI 9.2 update; find out the new features

MIUI 9.2 brings in an interactive and Fresh UI with changes in the lockscreen, status bar, and notification bar.

    Another Xiaomi phone has started receiving the MIUI 9.2 update. The company is now rolling out the update to the Redmi 4A. The smartphone was launched in India in March last year with MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow. However, it was later updated to Android 7.1.1 Nougat while the custom ROM remained the same. The news comes from one of Xiaomi's official Mi Forums.

    The MIUI 9.2 for the Redmi 4A is based on Android 7.1.2. Carrying the build number MIUI 9.2.6.0.NCCMIEK, the update weighs in at 1.3GB. The update also includes the Android security patch for January 2018. Users should however keep in mind that this is only a Stable Nightly build which Xiaomi releases randomly. This means the company will only release a wider rollout of the stable build if everything works out well.

    That said, we can expect the stable build to be out in the coming days. Talking about the update, MIUI 9.2 brings in an interactive and Fresh UI with changes in the lockscreen, status bar, and notification bar. Additionally, there will be new optimized themes, including a redesigned home page as well as updated Peach blossom and Asphalt themes. Furthermore, the Mi Mover app will now have the support for data migration restarting.

    Coming to the other highlights that the MIUI 9.2 update will add to the Xiaomi Redmi 4A, the smartphone will get an improved layout and readability for search results in Contacts, virus scans as well as payment scans merged into the Security scan and better blocklist rules with the ability of separated rules for each SIM card.

    Apart from that, the Redmi 4A will get an improved battery usage feature. This feature automatically turns on the Battery Saver mode when the phone is charging. Finally, users will get the ability to search for apps in the Dual Apps setting.

    The Redmi 4A comes with either 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB internal storage space. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Snapdragon 425 processor, the smartphone sports a 5-inch HD (720×1,280 pixels) display.

    On the optics front, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A flaunts a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, PDAF and f/2.2 aperture. There is also a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.

    Backed by a 3,120mAh battery, the smartphone offers connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, and Bluetooth v4.1.
