Xiaomi Redmi 4A with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage launched at Rs. 6,999
Redmi 4A gets another variant.
Today, Xiaomi has quietly announced the launch a new variant of the entry-level smartphone - Redmi 4A in India. The Redmi 4A with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space has been released at a price of Rs. 6,999.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4A was launched in India in March this year at a price point of Rs. 5,999. However, it was available only in one variant - 2GB RAM and 16GB storage for so long. Now, going by a tweet by the Xiaomi India's Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain, the Redmi 4A with 3GB RAM and 32GB RAM will be made available at Rs. 6,999 via Mi.com, Amazon India, Flipkart, Tata CliQ and Paytm from August 31.
Apart from the difference in the RAM and storage capacity, the other specifications remain the same as the base variant of the Redmi 4A. To refresh, the Redmi 4A was launched with a polycarbonate body and hybrid dual SIM slot. Running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based on MIUI 8, the device flaunts a 5-inch HD 720p display. Under its hood, there is a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC paired with Adreno 308 graphics unit.

On the imaging front, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A sports a 13MP main camera at its rear with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, LED flash and 5P lens. Up front, there is a 5MP selfie snapper with a similar f/2.2 aperture. Having a hybrid SIM slot, the smartphone supports expandable storage up to 128GB using a microSD card.
In terms of connectivity, the Redmi 4A comes bundled with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and dual SIM support. The device gets the power from a 3120mAh battery with support for fast charging.
Xiaomi is already the second largest smartphone brand in India. The company's Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4A smartphones are the best sellers in the market as far as the first half is considered. Having said that, the launch of the upgraded variant of the Redmi 4A will surely be a disruptive move in the budget smartphone arena.
