Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus could be launched as Redmi Note 5 in India next month
Next month is going to be lit according to Xiaomi.
Xiaomi India PR lead, Clinton Jeff has got us all excited once again as he has promised an exciting February basically hinting the launch of new Xiaomi smartphones in the country. In a Twitter post he has stated, "next month is going to be lit" and this statement comes after the company has been laying low for some time in 2018. But again it looks like it is set to change in the coming month.
If you are wondering what the company is planning then speculations suggest that the Chinese handset maker could launch Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones in India. The devices have already been launched last month in China and looking at how Xiaomi has increased its focus on the Indian market, the manufacturer may be looking to bring it to India as well.
Interestingly, many reports also suggest that Xiaomi could launch the Redmi Note 5 as well. However, there is a high possibility that Xiaomi could be thinking to rebrand the Redmi 5 Plus, use better specs and introduce it as Redmi Note 5 in India.
What's contradictory is that previously it was said that Xiaomi would not launch the Redmi Note 5 until Q2 2018. The reason being the handset maker was waiting for Qualcomm to release the Snapdragon 632 SoC. Since Redmi Note 4 is one of the most popular smartphones in India, the successor has to offer something better to the consumers as well as the fans. So integrating a powerful processor make sense. Hopefully, Xiaomi does justice for our long wait.
But again nothing is clear as of now, these are just speculations and Jeff has not revealed anything in detail. More leaks and teaser should pop up in the days to come and we will be keeping a close eye on the developments. We will update you once the fog over this situation clears.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has just announced that it has now released MIUI 9.2 Global stable ROM for its first batch of smartphones. The company via its forum page announced the news and the company has said that the rollout is happening for devices which include Redmi 5A, Redmi Y1 Lite, Redmi Y1, Mi Mix 2, Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi 4 Prime, Mi 3, Mi 4, and Mi Note. Xiaomi has already confirmed that the update will be coming for 40 of its smartphones.
